Council launches online Rights of Way tool for Cambridgeshire

Cambridgeshire County Council has launched an innovative online tool to help residents enjoy the outdoors and exercise safely during lockdown and beyond.

The new Rights of Way map seeks to encourage Cambridgeshire residents, and visitors, to explore the county’s extensive Rights of Way network which contains over 3,000 km of footpaths, bridleways and byways.

Using Google Maps, the Rights of Way map allows users to enjoy the great outdoors via their smartphone’s GPS signal.

Councillor Ian Bates, chairman of Cambridgeshire's highways and transport committee, said: “The pandemic has made many of us enjoy the physical and mental benefits of walking in our local area.

“Our new Rights of Way map will allow residents and – when restrictions allow, visitors – to explore the county’s extensive Rights of Way network which contains over 3,000 km of footpaths, bridleways and byways.

“The map is the latest in a range of initiatives that form part of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy.”

The Rights of Way Google map can be accessed by visiting our Rights of Way webpage which contains instructions of how the map can be used on your smartphone.
