Wisbech Town Council’s full council meeting sees all in favour of office closure over Christmas period
A town council’s office staff are to have a “free” week’s holiday over Christmas as a thank you for all their hard work in the past 12 months.
The Wisbech Town Council office is to be closed over the Christmas period so the three members of staff can enjoy the festive season – and they will not need to book annual leave to do it.
Cllr Samantha Hoy proposed the office closure for the Christmas week starting on December 23 at the council’s monthly meeting.
Cllr Hoy said she thought the office has done “exceptionally well” this year and has taken on a number of large projects.
She said it would be very nice for the office to be closed for the week of Christmas and for staff to have it off in addition to their normal annual leave.
This will be a thank-you for the hard work they have done this year, Cllr Hoy said.
She said: “We have a very small team, we have three members of staff and for the amount we do compared to the other town councils in Fenland, we have an awful lot of responsibilities, with three staff doing all that work so I think it will be nice.”
The other members of the council voted in favour of the plan.
