Wisbech Town Council to remember townspeople who died in 2023

At the final Wisbech Town Council meeting of the calendar year, councillors stand for a minute’s silence to remember people who have died that year.

As well as remembering notable and famous people who have died, the council is keen to remember townspeople who were not notable in that way but whose more personal contribution was noted and whose loss was equally heartfelt by their families and friends.

Therefore, Wisbech Town Council is giving local people the opportunity to submit names of loved ones who passed away during 2023 and either lived or were born in Wisbech – to be included in the list that will be read out and remembered during the minute’s silence.

The council does not want to intrude upon the grief or the personal circumstances of the people of the town, so only names that are requested by families or friends of the deceased person will be read out.

The town council would also be pleased to see members of the public come along to its November 27 meeting, to hear the names read out, and to join council members in a minute’s silence to remember those people and to reflect upon their lives.

Any family or friends of local people who died during 2023 who would like the names of their friend or relative to be read out as part of the council’s memorial silence, can do so by contacting Wisbech Town Council by telephone on 01945 461333, e-mail clerk@wisbechtowncouncil.org.uk or in person (1 North Brink, Wisbech – between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Fridays.
