Chatteris Town Council to request land to be gifted to them from Fenland District Council for youth sports facility

A piece of land could be turned into a youth facility if it falls into the hands of Chatteris Town Council.

On Tuesday evening, councillors agreed to explore potentially becoming the owners of land at the back of The Sportsman in Chatteris and turning it into sports facilities for youngsters.

Town mayor Cllr Linda Ashley raised the idea of requesting to be gifted the land by current owner Fenland District Council, as a ‘kind gesture’.

Cllr Ashley thought it would be nice if the district council handed over the land before it is swallowed up by the devolution process in a couple of years.

The majority of the councillors were in favour of exploring the request.
