Councillor Peter Human is the new Mayor of Wisbech

Wisbech has a new mayor following the annual pomp and circumstance ceremony at the town's Council Chamber on Friday.

Outgoing incumbent Councillor Steve Tierney proudly handed over the chain of office to his successor Councillor Peter Human at the ceremony attended by councillors, members of the public and other dignitaries including Richard Barnwell, Vice Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire.

Coun Human's deputy mayor is Councillor Michael Hill, and Janet Tanfield will act as the mayoress for the coming 12 months.

Coun Human said he was proud to take on the role and was looking forward to representing the town over the next year.
