A coffee morning is being put on to add more funds to the current total for a charity close to a family's heart.

Husband and wife, Nigel and Alexandra Glover, of Elm, are holding their last fundraising event on Saturday, October 19 with a coffee morning at Walton Highway Village Club before handing over the final amount raised to Macmillan Cancer.

The couple have been raising money for the charity for the last 18 months in memory of Alexandra’s brother, Christopher Malcolmson who who died nearly three years ago from cancer, and have held charity quiz nights and a cheese and wine evening.

The coffee morning is being held 10am-2pm with lots of cakes, teas and coffees, sausage rolls and bacon rolls, as well as a raffle.

Nigel said: “We have had a lot of generous people with generous donations from everybody.

“We have friends that are currently going through treatment and have just finished treatment for cancer, so not only did we want to raise money in memory of Alexandra’s brother but also to try and support those around us that are going through something similar.”
