Court hears of 'sad end' to couple's relationship after criminal damage
A Walpole Highway man smashed a TV and threw an Xbox One console out of the window after a row with his ex-partner.
Ryan Spinks, 25, has two children with Jodie Dillon who was expecting twins with him at the time of the incident.
King's Lynn Magistrates’ Court was told on Thursday (19) that the games console broke when it landed on the flat roof of a bay window.
It was also said that Spinks had replaced the TV with one of his own so that the children were not inconvenienced.
The defendant, who had no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage on January 26, 2021, and sending threatening texts to Miss Dillon the following day.
Charlotte Winchester, mitigating, described it as a “sad end” to a relationship which had produced four children.
She said: “The twins are now three months old and Mr Spinks hasn’t seen them.”
She said her client’s mental wellbeing had declined last year and the medication he had been prescribed had caused ”significant side effects”.
“He then stopped taking it at the end of last year which had a huge influence on his behaviour,” added Miss Winchester.
“He accepts he sent those unpleasant text messages to her.
“He has been back to his GP and is now on much better medication.”
The case was adjourned to September 23 for a pre-sentence report.
Spinks, of Stockshill Square, was granted bail to the next hearing with the conditions not to contact Miss Dillon and for child contact to be facilitated via a specific person named in court.
