D-licious chance to support charity

Local artist and community development worker, Syrah Arnold, is being supported in her fundraising efforts for Prostate Cancer UK by Wisbech based Café D-licious.

Silvia Rinaldi and Ferad Seid, who run Café D-licious, are offering three prizes of meals for two, with values of £10, £15 and £17. To be in with a chance of winning any of these, readers need to donate £5 to the Just Giving page that Syrah has set up - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/syrah-arnold1th will have their name included in a draw and will have a chance of winning a great meal for two. The café regrets that they cannot take cash donations for this.

Syrah, from Doddington, has already started raising funds and even attended a Fenland car-boot sale for this, where she met several men who are currently fighting prostate cancer.

The artist has signed up to run in the Cambridge Half Marathon in October, despite stating that she is not a natural runner.

Syrah said: “It’s a sobering thought that a man dies in the UK every 45 minutes due to prostate cancer.

"My initial practice runs were 45 minutes. I ended each run with this dreadful statistic in my thoughts and now, if I find training hard it’s a very good reminder why putting effort in is so important. I cannot thank Café D-licious enough for their incredibly kind and generous support.

"They are such a wonderful place to eat and meet friends – a truly family run, warm and welcoming place in Wisbech which serves amazing food and where the staff are always so lovely. I hope many local people will show support for the cause I’m fundraising for and also support for this local café, which is just fabulous.”

The café, located in Old Market, Wisbech, is open six days a week. Details of the prizes can be found on Syrah’s Just Giving page. The winners will also be announced on her page and also by a notice at the café on September 30. Three runner-up’s will be able to collect a bag of printed art cards from the café.
