David Hodgson's 'Chimney Sweep' named Wisbech and District Camera club's print of the year




A wolf, a chimney sweep, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa were all subjects in the Wisbech and District Camera Club's annual print of the year competition.

This year the event was judged by Sue Wilson from Newark, who is the vice president of the North and East Midlands Photographic Federation.

There were six sections: Creative, Landscape/Seascape, Natural History, Portrait & People, Open Monochrome and Open Colour with 88 prints entered from 13 members.

Creative was won by Martin Smart with ‘Crayon Play’; Landscape/Seascape by Maurice Wright with ‘Battistero di Pisa’. Maurice also won the Open Monochrome with ‘Vicar’s Close & Wells Cathedral’.

David Hodgson took the Natural History category with his ‘Grey Wolf Licking Ice’ taken in Yellowstone.

In fact David triumphed in three categories also winning Portrait & People with ‘Chimney Sweeper’, and the Open Colour with Brancaster Staithe Harbour.

David then enjoyed further triumph when his 'Chimney Sweep' was named the best Print of the Year .

The club's 69th annual exhibition officially opened at the Wisbech and Fenland Museum on Monday and will run until April 27.
