Should dogs be banned from events such as Wisbech Christmas Market?

It was hard to believe that so many dog owners decided to use Wisbech town centre as their 'Sunday morning dog walk' at the Wisbech Christmas Market.

Thoughtless for the welfare of their treasures, most of whom were clearly stressed and overwhelmed at the masses of people and feet around them. Some had to be picked up and carried.

Thoughtless for the comfort of the rest of the shoppers, trying to avoid the tripping hazard of dogs and leads, with dog owners expecting their pooches to be given priority and a free run.

Surely the owners would have an idea that there might be several hundred people thronging the town centre and take their dogs out before coming to town?

Would they take them to a football match? No, of course not.

The Town Council might consider banning dogs, other than guide dogs, in addition to vehicles, from such occasions.
