Donations wanted for fundraising night at March GER Club in aid of Wisbech family
An appeal has gone out for donations of raffle prizes as organisers gear up for a fundraising open mic night this autumn.
The GER Club in March is hosting the event on October 4 in aid of the Dodkin family from Wisbech and would like donations of prizes to help make it a bumper night.
Team Dodkin are a family of five: Sarah and Ben and their three sons, Finley, Arthur, and Harrison, who live for the moment and focus all of their time and energy on making memories for the boys, and raising money for and awareness of The Batten Disease Family Association.
They do this because Finley and Harrison have been diagnosed with CLN3 Juvenile Batten Disease.
This is a rare life-limiting neurological degenerative disease that has already taken the boys' sight and has brought with it early onset childhood dementia.
The disease will also mean the boys will not only develop complex epilepsy, mobility, and speech issues but will also be taken from their family especially their brother Arthur far too soon.
This doesn’t stop the boys from having a fantastic sense of adventure and zest for life.
Your donations and the family’s fundraising, through their Pedal4Memories initiative, will allow them to make some amazing memories together that will last forever which is just priceless.
Alongside this, the family always shares all fundraising efforts 50/50 with The BDFA and has also started a scheme called Arthur’s Gift that sends surprise gifts to siblings of children with Batten Disease.
Your support will help all families in the Batten community feel supported and nurtured through this heartbreaking diagnosis and journey that is Batten Disease.
A spokesperson said: “If you are able to donate a prize then we would be extremely grateful.”
Donations can be made either via the GER or by contacting Sarah through the Facebook page Pedal4Memories.
