These students from Downham Academy are pictured in London for the recent Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey.

It was attended by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, representatives from 53 Commonwealth countries, senior politicians and more than 1,000 young people.

The theme was ‘A young Commonwealth’ emphasising the fact that youngsters aged 25 or under account for the majority of the Commonwealth’s population.

The academy is embarking on a project which will see each of its houses partnered with a school from a Commonwealth country.
