Driver hospitalised after A141 crash at Wimblington

A driver who suffered a 'medical issue' causing them to crash had to be freed from their vehicle last night (Wednesday).

The motorist was hospitalised following the single vehicle accident on the A141 at Wimblington.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the Isle of Ely Way at around 9pm where they discovered the driver still trapped inside their vehicle.

The driver was released by firefighters before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said “a medical issue” caused the crash, and added: “The driver was taken to Peterborough City Hospital by ambulance and no other vehicle was involved.”
