Elm couple celebrate diamond wedding anniversary
A generous couple raised £580 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance at their diamond wedding anniversary party.
Derrick and Sylvia Day, of Low Road, Elm, celebrated this milestone achievement with family and friends at Wisbech Rugby Club. They asked for donations to the charity instead of presents. The couple met at while working at English Bros before tying the knot in Southea Church, Parson Drove, on December 4 1954. Mr Day worked at English Bros until he retired while his wife worked at Harlington Plant and Wells Nursery. The couple were joined at the party by family, Stephen and Geraldine, Brian and Debs along with four grandsons Michael, Paul, Simon and Philip.
Mr Day said: “We get on so well together everything went well.”
