Event to remember loved ones who have been lost or living with a life-limiting illness in Fenland
A charity that provides end-of-life care for people in the Fenland area is inviting members of the community to join them for a special service on Sunday, December 8.
The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, which is based at the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre, is holding its third annual Light up a Life event at St Peter’s Church in Wisbech from 4pm.
The service will be to remember loved ones who are no longer with us.
Anyone in the community is welcome to attend, not just those touched by hospice care. You may wish to take part to remember someone who has died or reflect on the current challenges you are facing.
A spokesperson for the Hospice at Home service said: “Light up a Life is a time and space where you can remember, reflect, and look forward with hope in your heart.”
There will be an opportunity to write a message on a star and hand it from the Christmas tree in the church.
The spokesperson added: “Everyone is welcome to attend, no matter what part of the journey you are on and whether you have or haven't received our care. These events are open to people of all faiths or no faith.”
Refreshments will be available after the service.
The Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre, an Arthur Rank Hospice Charity service based in Wisbech, is a specialist centre supporting people living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care.
The ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families in North Cambridgeshire and the Fens.
Each year approximately 1,200 patients are cared for in an aim to help them to make every moment count. The multi-disciplinary palliative care team led by a Matron provides a range of services, including Living Well services; treatment and clinical days (including blood transfusions, oncology and symptom management); complementary and diversional therapies and bereavement and support services.
