Exam delight in Chatteris
Cromwell Community College in Chatteris celebrated a dramatic rise in A-level results after double the number of students achieved higher grades this year.
College Principal Jane Horn said she was very proud of the pupils after 55 per cent of the grades awarded were A* to B.
A total of 71 per cent of the grades were at A*-C or equivalent and the overall pass rate was 98 per cent.
She said even more pleasing was the fact 28 per cent of the college’s A-level grades were at least an A and 42 per cent of students achieved at least one A or A* grade.
Vocational subjects also did well with 100 per cent achieving a distinction* to pass grade, and 92 per cent awarded at distinction or distinction* level.
Mrs Horn said: “I am so proud of the pupils and that their dedication has paid off. The college has worked hard this year to secure improvements and we are delighted this can be seen in the results the pupils have achieved.
“Many pupils have been accepted into the universities of their choice or now have the grades to move on to other opportunities.”
A number of pupils performed exceptionally well, including Laura Baker, who achieved A*, A, A in maths, chemistry and physics, Tom Wayman with As in chemistry, maths and physics, Lucy Halls with A*, A, B in maths, further maths and physics and Jake Wignall with A, A and Distinction* for psychology, religious studies and ICT.
