Disqualified Wisbech driver Florin Constantin has ban extended after police caught him behind the wheel in Emneth
A disqualified driver has had his ban extended after he was caught behind the wheel on his way to his factory job.
Florin Constantin, of Norfolk Street in Wisbech, was pulled over by officers on Elm High Road at Emneth on March 26.
He pleaded guilty at King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to driving while disqualified and without insurance.
The 38-year-old Romanian received his initial 40-month ban back in March 2023 - but in mitigation, solicitor George Sorrell explained that on this occasion, he had no other means of getting to work.
“He persuaded his brother-in-law to lend him his car,” he said.
“It is a very good thing that someone should make an extra effort to get to work on time, but of course, he shouldn’t have been driving the car.”
An additional three months have been added to Constantin’s disqualification.
He has also been handed a £300 fine, a victim surcharge of £120 and court costs of £85, which he agreed to pay at £60 per month.
His licence has also been marked to show he was convicted of driving without insurance.
