Family-run business expanding with old fashioned sandwich bar opening in March next week
A family-run business is expanding its food business with a new premises opening in March.
The Cole family currently owns the Cole’s Kitchen Burger Van at Meadowlands Retail Park in the town and are now opening a sandwich shop.
The Sandwich Bar at 78 Station Road will open on Monday, March 11, and will be a very old-fashioned style sandwich shop where you will be able to go in and see your ingredients and decide which go into a variety of different rolls.
There will be freshly made salad boxes where you can also choose what goes in as well as meal deals, sausage rolls, and jacket potatoes.
The shop will be a grab-and-go service as there is no seating inside but in the summer they will have tables outside and will offer offer paninis and coffees.
Emma Cole, an owner of the family business, said: “We are doing this as my son is going to take over my burger van so we thought we would expand and open another shop.”
There are also plans to showcase local cake makers in the shop.
Currently, the family is in the process of talking to Tesco about getting fruit for children who walk by in the morning so they can grab a piece for free on their way to school.
Emma added: “I want to be able to help the locals. The meats we will be using will all be from a local butcher and other local products will be used too.
“Eventually, I want to try and be able to give back, especially to the children and the community, hence why we would like to do the free fruit.
“I believe the town is struggling at the minute with the regenerating work and hopefully offering local cake makers somewhere to display their cakes and sell their cakes from and encouraging the local children to have a piece of fruit on the way to school might make a difference.”
YouTuber and Instagrammer ‘Trucker Tim’ will be there to open the shop at 10am on Monday and there will be dinosaurs from the local Fossils Galore Museum giving out canapes.
