Fenland art teacher gets creative with 5k challenge in aid of Queen Elizabeth Hospital
A Fenland art teacher added a creative twist in the process of completing a challenge in aid of the NHS.
Sarah Looseman, who teaches at the Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech took part in a challenge set by the school's PE department.
Last month, the PE department launched a challenge for students and staff to run, walk or cycle 5k to raise money for The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn.
Mrs Looseman got creative with her #TCA5KforNHS challenge, by spelling out ‘NHS’ and a heart symbol as she ran her route.
Any 5ks completed can be recorded via the school's website so the PE department can make a leader board of the competing groups: Madiba, Pankhurst, King, Sixth Form and staff.
Mrs Loosemore, was among those to pick up the gauntlet and decided to give it herself an extra challenge when she ran her 5k, by spelling out the special message.
But it was not easy.
She said: “After drawing my route out on paper in one single line, and a few attempts to get the spacing correct on the field using goalposts and playground equipment as markers, I managed to get it to work - and all for such a good cause!”
Staff are currently in the lead for the number of 5ks completed, but students have also been finding novel ways to hit the 5k target. One student has completed it on a treadmill.
Those taking part in the challenge can ask friends and family to make a donation in support of their efforts via the JustGiving website.
At the time of writing, the total raised so far is £480.
