Fenland Council chair re-elected for third term
Fenland District Council has re-elected Councillor Alex Miscandlon to serve the district as chair for a third consecutive term.
Coun Miscandlon, who is ward councillor for Benwick, Eastrea and Coates, was unanimously elected for the 2022/23 civic year by his fellow councillors at the annual council meeting on Thursday (12).
Councillor Nick Meekins, ward councillor for Peckover (Wisbech), was also elected as vice-chair for the year, following the resignation of Councillor Rob Skoulding from the role due to ill health.
Welcoming his appointment, Coun Miscandlon said: “Thank you to everyone who voted me to this position once again, to serve the Council as Chairman for another 12 months. I do will
my best to uphold the standards set and hope that we have a very successful year.”
“I would like to formally thank and acknowledge CounSkoulding for undertaking his duties as vice-chair from the year 2020 to date.”
Accepting his role, Coun Meekins said: “Thank you to all my fellow members for this great opportunity of being vice-chair for the next year; I will support Alex in whatever ways I can. Whilst I look forward to carrying out the role there is a tinge of regret that the reason for
me being able to carry out this job is due to the ill health of Coun Skoulding. I hope that he continues his recovery, and we carry on seeing him for many, many years to come.”
Coun Skoulding thanked Coun Miscandlon for giving him the opportunity of being vice-chair, saying it has been “a fantastic couple of years”, and thanked the council’s member services team for their support.
