Fenland police make a 'sweet' arrest in Wisbech

A prolific shoplifter spotted with stolen items by a Neighbourhood Policing officer whilst on foot patrol in Wisbech town centre on Saturday morning is due to appear in court tomorrow (Monday).

Posting about the incident to their Facebook page Fenland Police said: "As the shoplifter was cycling away the officer noticed something on the handlebars. What’s that?- Bags of Quality Street.

"The officer tried to stop the shoplifter but they didn’t want to. Further investigation by the officer found that the items had been stolen from a shop in the Wisbech Market Place.

"Neighbourhood officers have then attended the shoplifter's address.

"We didn’t have to look very hard for the stolen items, six bags of Quality Street, recovered and returned to their owner.

"The shoplifter was arrested and taken to the police investigation centre in King's Lynn where they have been interviewed and charged.

"As they seem not to learn, we remanded the shoplifter into custody and they will attend court on Monday Morning to explain their actions."
