Fenland town's churches bring joy of Christmas with online carol service
Christmas may be a little different this year but one Fenland churches are offering everyone a chance to enjoy a traditional carol service.
Covid-19 restrictions mean a ban on communal singing prevents churches from holding the popular festive services.
So instead King's Church Wisbech has come up with a film with contributions from many of the other churches in the town.
'Carols from King's (Wisbech)' has been filmed with contributions from Wisbech Baptist Church, the Salvation Army, St Peter's and St Augustines' churches as well as King's members.
It will be streamed on Tuesday December 22 at 6.30pm and again on Christmas Eve at 11pm and again in Christmas Day at 10.30am, so so those interested can find a time that suits.
This virtual carol service features a variety of traditional carols everyone knows and loves as well as the addition of a brand-new modern Christmas worship song written by Wisbech-based songwriter Matt McChlery.
The words for all the songs will be displayed on the screen to help everyone to sing along and join in.
The stream will be available on The King’s Church, Wisbech Facebook Page and YouTube Channel at the dates and times already mentioned.
Clive Butcher, a leader at The King’s Church says, “This is a great opportunity to enjoy remembering why we have a Christmas celebration. We hope many will find this helpful and inspiring.”
