Fenland village's play area re-opens after lockdown and has more fun to offer
A Fenland play are has re-opened after months of being closed due to lockdown and it is now better than ever.
West Walton Parish Council took the opportunity offered by the imposed closure caused by the pandemic to instal new equipment.
The village play area now boasts a zip wire, a new roundabout and some other fun equipment for children to enjoy.
There is even a selection of adult exercise equipment for everyone to enjoy, and everything has also been professionally cleaned.
David Cummings, parish council chairman, posted news of the re-opening on Facebook along with a statement offering advice to users.
The statement said: "West Walton Parish Council thanks all the residents for their patience whilst the play area and outdoor gym equipment have been closed.
"Whilst the playing field has been closed, work has been carried out to improve the facilities. The parish council hopes that the young residents will enjoy the new pieces of play equipment."
It goes on to urge all users to follow the Government recommendations and advice on social distancing and personal hygiene and points out that some high contact areas may still represent some risk.
It said: "Please do not visit the playing field, play area or outdoor gym equipment if you have symptoms of COVID-19.
"Please bring your own hand sanitiser to use before, during and after play or exercise. Wash your hands when you get home."
It also urges people to keep the number of accompanying adults to a minimum and asks users not to consume food and drink on the playing field or play area.
And added: "Please wait patiently for equipment to become available or, if it is very busy, come back later. Please take your litter home or dispose of in the litter bin. And maintain social distances."
