Four drivers lose their licences this week after drink driving in Fenland and Peterborough

Four men have been disqualified from driving this week after being caught drink driving in Fenland and Peterborough.

Police are working hard to tackle the issue across Cambridgeshire but are asking drivers to rethink getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol.

Two of the men were from Wisbech.

The first was Adrian Nadasan, 45, of Orange Grove, Wisbech, who nearly collided with a marked police van in St Peter’s Road, Wisbech, on June 26. He was found to be two-and-a-half times the legal drink drive limit (35mg per 100ml) after providing an evidential breath sample of 87mg. He appeared in court on Monday (19), where he was disqualified from driving for a year and eight months.

While the manner of driving by Paul Needham, 66, of Osborne Road, Wisbech, in Tesco car park in Lerowe Road, Wisbech, on June 12 caused concern. He was breathalysed and found to initially be four times the drink drive limit after blowing 139 at the roadside, and was also found to be driving without insurance.

He was arrested and taken into custody where he provided an evidential sample of 126. He appeared in court yesterday (Wednesday) and was disqualified from driving for two-and-a-half years.

The other two men were from Peterborough.

Adrian Zara, 31, of Northfield Road, Peterborough, who drove into a parked car, pushing it through a wall, whilst under the influence of alcohol on 26 June. He was found to be nearly twice the legal drink drive limit after providing an evidential breath sample of 63. He appeared in court on Monday (19) and was disqualified from driving for a year and three months.

The second was Mantas Bagdanavicius, 29, of Heyford Close, in Gunthorpe, Peterborough, who collided with a tree in Fulbridge Road on 25 June. In an attempt to avoid colliding with his already crashed vehicle, two other motorists collided. He was found to be more than three times the legal drink drive limit after providing an evidential breath sample of 111. He appeared in court on Monday and was disqualified from driving for two years, in addition to being given a 12-month community order and made to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.

Drink driving not only endangers the life of the driver, but also other road users around them. The legal limit is 35 but we recommend you stay at zero.
