Four tickets issued after police tackle illegal parking outside schools in Chatteris, March and Wimblington

Three cars have been ticketed by police targeting illegal parking at drop-off and pick-off times near Westwood Primary School in March.

Fenland Police increased patrols of the area following complaints about parking around the school.

They have also patrolled Burrowmoor Primary School in the town, Thomas Eaton in Wimblington and Glebelands Primary in Chatteris during February, with one ticket issued and words of advice given to many others.

Officers have reminded motorists that it is illegal to park on double yellow lines and zig-zag markings, furthermore, there are signs around some of the schools stating people should not park there during specific times.

A spokesman said: “We understand that this can be frustrating, but it is all done to keep everyone safe, especially the children. Our patrols will continue, issuing tickets to any vehicles found to be parked dangerously.

“This work is done as it is an area of concern that members of the public have highlighted to us. If there is something that you would like to make us aware of, you can do so by filling out our community survey here.”
