Wisbech man Frederick Shepherd marks 101st birthday in style
Celebrations have been in full swing at Rose Lodge Care Home in Wisbech as one of its residents reaches his 101st birthday in style.
Frederick Shepherd was joined by staff and family as he received many cards, presents and a special cake made by head chef Dianne Lilley and Georgia Voss.
He enjoyed three days of celebrations, afternoon tea and a party at the home, joined by several family members.
Frederick was born in Manchester and worked at a shipping company before joining the RAF and was a pilot during World War 2, finishing his career at RAF Marham in Norfolk.
After the war, he worked for Nestle and became principal of a training college. Frederick has two daughters, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He said: “I have had a lovely few days and have been treated like royalty. It is so nice to be able to celebrate inside with my family this year and the cake is lovely. I never expected to reach 100, let alone 101!”
Rose Lodge general manage Meg Jones added: “We’re delighted to be celebrating with Frederick as he reaches this amazing milestone. He is a dear resident to us and we are all very fond of him. Frederick is so fit and well for his age and we love having a chat with him about his formative years.”
