Free cycling lessons and Dr Bike at two Fenland schools this summer
Cycling and walking charity Sustrans in association with Cambridgeshire County Council is running two Learn To Ride and Doctor Bike days at schools in Chatteris and March during August.
Sustrans has been running its successful bike It programme for the past 12 months in Cambridgeshire and are offering free lessons for primary aged children to learn to ride at Cromwell Community College in Chatteris on Tuesday, August 13 (9am-3.30pm) and at All Saints Inter Church Academy in March on Thursday, August 29 (also 9am-3.30pm).
In addition to and running alongside the sessions will be a Dr Bike clinic where children and parents can have their bikes checked over and any small adjustments or repairs carried out, free of charge.
“This a great opportunity to get your child riding independently and off those stabilisers.” said bike it officer Steve Clarke, who will be running the sessions and he added, “We can usually get children riding within the hour session and it’s great to see both them and their parents’ excitement at cracking such an important life skill.”
Both the learn to ride and Dr Bike sessions need to be booked in advance and if you are interested please contact Steve on steve.clarke@sustrans.org.uk
