Free talk: Prince's Foundation tutor to discuss timber restoration and conservation as part of Wisbech High Street project
Timber Restoration, Conservation and Techniques by Owen McClatchey is the next talk to be hosted by experts Lincoln Conservation, in partnership with Fenland District Council, as part of the project's activities programme.
Booking is now open to join the free talk, which is being held online via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday, 1 March, at 6pm.
The talk will provide an introduction to historic building types, look at restoration vs conservation, and give practical steps for property owners looking after woodwork, including windows, doors, internal joinery, and timber frames.
There will also be a picture gallery of some of the buildings in Owen's portfolio, and a question-and-answer session.
Owen McClatchey, who has worked with historic buildings his entire career, has travelled across the UK working on a range of projects in restoration and conservation, including work on churches, museums, Oxford colleges and many vernacular buildings in traditional timber framing. For the past three years he has also been a visiting tutor on The Prince's Foundation Building Craft Apprenticeship leading the process of the Live Build, where students are tasked with creating a new structure using traditional skills in twelve weeks.

The talk is completely free to join thanks to the Wisbech High Street Project, which is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund's Townscape Heritage scheme.
