Fun in the sun as Manea holds its annual gala and draws massive crowds
Thousands of people packed Manea Playing Field on Saturday for the hugely successful and sunny annual gala.
The day started with dozens of runners lining up for what has become an annual charity 5k fun run organised by Ben Fox and this year featured 'beat the tractor'.
This was later followed by the gala parade which set off from the outside the village school, with a theme this year of Disney, to process through the streets and eventually arriving at the Playing Field where an afternoon of family fun was waiting.
Attractions included a host of main ring entertainment including shows by the Little Nippers Lurcher and Terrier Show, alpacas, a new look fun dog show, classic and vintage cars and a visit from Lightning McQueen car.
Elsewhere there were children's fun fair rides, zorbing, a large inflatable obstacle course, archery and an array of charity stalls.
The volunteers serving refreshments in the pavilion were kept busy all afternoon and the beer tent and ice cream sellers also did a roaring trade as the temperatures soared well into the late 20s.
The day ended with evening musical entertainment kicking off with Manea Silver Band, followed by karaoke with Katie Terry and then the 'anything for Lydia wants band' concluding one of the most successful galas.
All money raised on the day will be given to village causes, the final total is not yet known.
