Wisbech Gallery 2024 Open Exhibition – have you been yet?
The Wisbech Gallery 2024 Open Exhibition has now reached the mid-way point, but there’s still plenty of time to visit and view more than 115 stunning works of art in this beautiful setting in the heart of Wisbech.
The Exhibition features artwork created by 76 artists, both professional and amateur, who are based across Fenland, the East of England, and the South East. There are 11 different art forms on show and many of the artworks are available to buy.
The Gallery has a new retail section too, where you can purchase cards and prints by many of the exhibiting artists.
This year the Judging Panel had the difficult job of selecting a winning entry from among the 190+ artworks that were submitted and this created a lengthy discussion between the four judges.
The prize went to Jamie Andrews, for his work ‘Being Me Number 6’, which the Panel felt was “a striking piece of innovative artwork, which made bold use of found objects whilst also being playful”.
The quality of the artwork submitted was so high though that the Judging Panel also selected five other pieces for a judges’ ‘Special Mention’, which went to artists Jaine Laine, Rhona Fleming, Jaime-Lea Taylor, Amanda Palmer, and Hilary Marshall.
The Open Exhibition is open to the public between 10am-4pm, Wednesday-Saturday, until Saturday, October 26. Entry to the Exhibition is free and there is a step-free access into the building too. Wisbech Gallery is located at 10A-14 South Brink, Wisbech PE13 1JQ and there is free parking in Somers Road Car Park, which is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the Main Entrance to the Gallery.
