Gallery: All the fun of the fair returns to town after two years
Late summer sunshine and the chance to enjoy all the fun of the fair for the first time in two years meant the opening night of Wisbech Mart was the busiest ever.
The fair, which is in town until Sunday (26), was officially opened last night (Wednesday), as is the tradition in Wisbech by the mayor Councillor Andrew Lynn.
He was joined by a civic party made up of fellow councillors and also the town's Mace Bearer Trevor Longmuir, for the event which saw him sample some of the rides.
Town clerk Terry Jordan, who was also among the civic party, said: "It was definitely the busiest opening night I've ever seen.
"I think it was down to a combination of things - the warm sunshine, which meant it was a lovely evening for people to come out and the fact this is the first time there has been a fun fair in the town for two years because the last few had to be cancelled due to Covid.
"It was really nice to see so many people out enjoying themselves, there were lots of families with young children, and a lot younger people out enjoying the fair too."
The fair is located in Chapel Road car park, which means there was no parking there and there is limited parking in Somers Road too as it it is also being used by the fair operators.
