Gallery: Parade is back for Chatteris' annual Act of Remembrance
Chatteris people turned out in their hundreds for the annual Remembrance Day commemoration.
This year saw people from all walks of life together with representatives from local groups and organisations join the parade, which wended its way through crowd-lined streets from Furrowfields to the town’s War Memorial outside the parish church.
For Norman Larke, of Chatteris Royal British Legion, it was his last parade as Parade Marshal after more than 20 years in charge of organising the event, and he was thanked with a round of applause from those present.
Dozens of wreaths were laid including by the mayor, Linda Ashley and MP Steve Barclay, among others were the town's scouts, and representatives from the Armed Forces.
The parade past 43 poppies on its way through the town pinned to various lamppost columns put their thanks to sponsors and organised by Councillor James Carney, who was helped by fellow councillor Ian Benney with installing them.
Donations from sponsors will be added to the town's annual Poppy Appeal.
Covid restrictions meant limited numbers inside St Peter's parish church for the service of thanksgiving and remembrance. But the service conducted by the Rev Canon Wendy Thompson was relayed to those outside thanks to a PA system.
