Gallery: Thousands pack town park for WisBEACH RockFest
Wisbech was rocking yesterday (Sunday) when thousands turned out to enjoy a day at the 'beach' with live music.
Wisbech Town Park was host to the WisBEACH Rock Festival which saw not one but two of the town's popular events combined to offer fun for all the family.
From sandcastle making and donkey rides in the beach area created by Total Solutions and sponsored by local holiday firm Sunlounger Travel to rocking out near the main stage as 1970s favourites Slade performed their top hits along with a host of other live acts, it was a huge hit with all those who turned out.
Showers failed to dampen spirits as the fun unfolded at the event organised Wisbech Town Council and put on completely free for all.
There was a host of local groups and organisations hold fundraising stalls including Wisbech Lions who entertained visitors with their version of 'Play Your Cards Right'. There was even a chance to dunk current mayor Andrew Lynn.
Two campaign groups fighting the planned Wisbech incinerator were also in attendance to help raise awareness of MVV's proposals to build a 54megawatt burner in the town. Both WisWin (Wisbech Without Incineration) and No Wisbech Incinerator were gathering signatures against the plans.
Town council leader Sam Hoy paid tribute to all the many volunteers who helped set up the event and also acted as stewards on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly.
"None of this can happen without the town councillors, staff and volunteers who steward and my huge thanks to them," she said.
