Gallery: Wisbech school children join voices with prestigious Cambridge choir
Members of a Fenland school’s choir joined their voices to those of a prestigious chorister group on Thursday (3).
The event at St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church in Wisbech saw the children of the town’s Elm Road Primary School join choristers from St Catherine’s College, Cambridge.
The event was a service of hopefulness and expectation and was part of the church’s Easter calendar.
It was led by the Rev Canon Matthew Bradbury and saw the Elm Road Choir blend with St Catherine's to sing three songs which included the hymn Lord of the Dance.
Headteacher Chris Venables explained the school has been working with St Catherine's Choir in collaboration with St Peter's Church for a couple of years.
It has seen St Catherine's musical director work with the children who are from Years 3 to 5 both during in person sessions and via zoom.
The choir, which is open to all children in the school but mainly from Year 3 upwards, rehearses weekly and performs at intervals in the church.
