Skylark Garden Centre at Wimblington will close for day as mark of respect for owner’s wife Melanie Gowler
A popular garden centre will be closed on Wednesday as a mark of respect for the owner’s wife.
Skylark Garden Centre in Wimblington will be closed for the day for the funeral of Melanie Gowler, wife of Skylark’s owner Edward.
A notice on Skylark’s Facebook page said: “As a sign of respect, Skylark Garden Centre & Cafe will be closed on Wednesday, October 23 for the funeral of the recently passed Melanie Gowler, the amazing wife of Skylark's owner Edward Gowler.
“Skylark will be open as normal from Thursday 24th October at 9am.”
Mrs Gowler, 47, died on September 29 following a crash when her car came off a track near the Skylark farm and overturned in a water-filled ditch in the early hours.
She was taken to Peterborough City Hospital where she sadly died.
An inquest opened into her death on October 11 in Huntingdon and was adjourned to a date to be set.
Mrs Gowler, a mum of four, was well-known and popular as the outside catering manager at Skylark, and tributes flooded in after notice of her death was posted on social media.
