General Election 2019: How to stand in the North East Cambridgeshire Constituency
Do you want to stand as an MP for North East Cambridgeshire in the forthcoming General Election on December 12? Then you have just three days to submit your nomination papers – from Tuesday, November 12, to Thursday, November 14.
Fenland District Council will publish the official Notice of Election for the constituency on its website from 4pm on November 11.
Prospective parliamentary candidates then have until 4pm on Thursday, November 14, to submit their nominations papers and deposit. They must be hand delivered to the council offices at Fenland Hall, County Road, March.
Nomination packs, containing all the necessary information candidates need to be aware of, including all the forms that need to be submitted as part of the nomination process, are now available from the Council’s website at: www.fenland.gov.uk/elections and the Electoral Commission website at: www.electoralcommission.org.uk/media/3080). Alternatively, hard copy can be requested from the council’s elections team.
To be a candidate for the election you need to be:
at least 18 years old, and
either a British citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland or an eligible Commonwealth citizen
Anyone wishing to stand as a candidate representing a political party must also obtain the permission of the party, which itself must be registered on the Electoral Commission’s register of political parties.
