Wisbech Christmas showpiece tomorrow (Sunday)
Thousands of people are expected to attend a Christmas showpiece in Wisbech on Sunday.
There will be a fantastic array of festive goings-on taking place across the town centre at the annual Christmas Fayre, which will be opened by the Mayor Coun Michael Hill.
Free attractions include a Ferris wheel (new this year), snow globe, steam train and reindeer – all made possible through sponsorship from the Horsefair Shopping Centre, Vodafone and Wisbech Town Council.
There will be a packed line-up of entertainment on the Market Place, with performances taking place between 10am and 3pm.
Shoppers will find everything they need for the big day, including fresh produce, confectionery, hand-made crafts and unique gifts, from stallholders and local businesses throughout the Horsefair, Market Place, High Street, York Row, Market Street, through to Museum Square and Wisbech Castle.
The Library has a real treat in store for families, too, with craft activities and refreshments, as well as acclaimed children’s storyteller Marion Leeper, who will be creating a magical enchanted tent for the under 5s.
Don’t forget to pop into the “Museum at Christmas” where you can make your very own Victorian Christmas card and experience some Dickensian storytelling, too. There will also be festive activity at Wisbech Castle.
No Christmas fayre would be complete without a visit from Father Christmas. He, accompanied by Mrs Christmas, will be found in the Horsefair Shopping Centre next to Boots. Meet his real-life reindeer nearby on Hill Street.
Around 5,000 visitors are expected. Parking will be available free-of-charge in the car parks at Somers Road, St Peter’s, Chapel Road and the Horsefair Shopping Centre.
