Go wild at Skylark Garden Centre in Wimblington this February half-term

Children will be encouraged to take a walk on the wild side next week when Skylark Events opens its doors for the holidays.

Staff and volunteers from The Wildlife Trust will be at Skylark Garden Centre in Wimblington on Monday (17), Wednesday (19), and Saturday (21) with a range of activities to entertain the children in the dedicated indoor event space.

The activities include making wooden cookie decorations, nature painting and collages, clay wildlife figures, and bird feeders, all of which can be taken home to decorate their homes and help the birds in their outdoor spaces.

The children alongside their adults will be asked to wrap up warm for a stroll around the woods at Skylark for a nature walk/winter scavenger hunt.

Skylark has worked with the trust for a number of years, but this year will be the first time the event is solely run by the trust meaning hundreds of pounds will be given to the charity.

The trust is working towards, The Great Fen Project, an expanse of nationally significant fen landscape between Peterborough and Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

The area contains many farms and villages as well as two National Nature Reserves, Woodwalton Fen and Holme Fen, home to some very special wildlife.

Edward Gowler, owner of Skylark said: “We are so happy to work with the trust again this year -they do such good work to help the wildlife, especially in our region. We know they will deliver an excellent event that week, it will be great fun for all those who attend.”
