Gorefield girl wins semi-finals of beauty pageant

A 12-year-old girl from Gorefield proved she’s an inspiration after winning the semi-final of a young beauty pageant.

Whitney Jane Pope, who studies at Peele Community College in Long Sutton, defeated a number of other entrants from around the country during an online round to win the title of Miss Junior Teen Inspiration Cambridgeshire.

It was the first beauty pageant she had entered and was put forward by her sister.

Now Whitney will compete against a number of other regional winners in the Little Miss Inspiration UK final in April next year.

She said: “I was a bit nervous about entering the competition as I didn’t think I would come close to winning, but when my sister told me I had been chosen to represent Cambridgeshire in the 2016 grand finals I just couldn’t believe it.

“Now that I have my title I have a lot of work to do. The first thing I need to do is find a sparkly dress to wear, but I also need to do at least 10 social appearances and some fundraising so my calendar is going to be quite full for the next few months.”
