Long Sutton Cinder Ash Pre-School and Sutton Bridge Parish Council to receive share of £140k funding

Thirteen groups across South Holland including in Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge will be getting a share of more than £140,000.

Sutton Bridge Parish Council and a Long Sutton pre-school are among the groups getting a portion of the £142,305 awarded by the Lincolnshire Community Foundation’s GRASSroots Grants.

The fund, which has been funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Rural England Prosperity Fund, has already awarded grants to more than 150 projects across South & East Lincolnshire since it began in July 2023.

Coun Paul Redgate, portfolio holder for finance at South Holland District Council, said: “I am so pleased that we have been able to support even more projects across the district through this UKSPF funded scheme.

“Throughout this first phase of UKSPF, which began in 2023, we have been able to ensure funding has reached areas of South Holland which, historically, have been left behind, meaning every community has a chance to thrive.

“Having seen the results of the many projects LCF GRASSroots has already supported with grants, I know what can be achieved when such projects are given the helping hand that they need to grow and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.”

This latest round of awards has been made possible through efficiency savings realised in the management of current UKSPF/REPF contracts.

Sutton Bridge Parish Council received £23,373 to refurbish a multi-play unit and seesaw at the village’s Memorial Park while Cinder Ash Pre-School, Long Sutton, has been awarded £22,944 for a septic tank and bathroom works.

The total investment, including match funding, that has been made in parish councils, village halls and small community projects across all communities in South Holland has now exceeded, in total, £1million.
