Fenland gymnasts wow at their eighth annual extravaganza
Fenland Gymnastics Academy has hosted its eighth annual extravaganza event – the biggest one yet.
The event saw more than 250 members of the club participate showcasing what they have learnt in their training sessions.
The gymnasts ranged between 18 months and 18 years old and they had been preparing for the show in their classes since November.
Groups perform routines including dance and gymnastics skills to music, and this year the theme was ‘Popstars’.
The club hosts four shows over four days and each show lasts around two and a half hours.
They pack in a full audience of over 240 people per night and although the event is primarily to show family and friends what the gymnasts have been learning, it is also used as a fundraising event for the club, which is also a registered charity, in order to try and raise enough funds to help move to a bigger facility having outgrown their current one on Algores Way in Wisbech.
Head Coach Claire Port said “I am so proud of our team of gymnasts, coaches, and volunteers who have worked so hard over the past few months getting the show prepared.
“The gymnasts all enjoyed this event and it made the academy proud as a club that over 900 people came to enjoy the show.
“The club is working really hard to find a larger facility to help accommodate our ever-growing waiting list so that more young people from Wisbech and the surrounding areas can enjoy gymnastics and this event has helped with the fundraising efforts.
“This is the last year we feel we will be able to host the event in our current facility as we have outgrown the space for the amount of gymnasts we have and the amount of audience it draws which is absolutely fantastic and a real testament to our team’s efforts”.
