Wisbech pensioner 'disgusted' at the way GP patients are being treated

The following is a letter published in this week's Fenland Citizen

I and many others I have spoken to are disgusted with the way doctors’ patients are being treated.

Before this Covid-19 started, we all knew who our doctor was and could talk to him or her about any problem we had.

A pensioner has complained at the way he and others are being treated.

Now we are being asked to talk about our problems over the phone.

Have you tried to phone a doctors’ surgery? By the time you get to talk to anyone, after listening to all the options they come up with, you could be dead. People are being asked to send photos or details of problems by phone.

Since my doctor and all the other doctors left my surgery, I don’t think I’ve seen a proper doctor – only a locum or a nurse practitioner. I don’t actually know if I have a doctor.

Doctors are paid good money but you’re lucky if you get to see one.

The only good department now is seeing a Sister for injections or other problems.

We’re being asked to send details about problems by text. It would be nice if you knew how to do it! All this ww.com is rubbish if you haven’t got a computer.

B Maddox (80-years-old)
