Happy birthday to Doris Bateman from Wisbech who is 105 years old today
One of Fenland’s oldest residents, Doris Bateman, is celebrating her 105th birthday today (Tuesday) with a cake and a card from the Queen.
Doris, who was born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire – where she spent most of her life, until her husband died – now lives at Glennfield Care Home in Wisbech.
She moved to Fenland after her husband’s death to be nearer to her family. She has two daughters, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Doris has always led an active life and had planned to travel to America for her 100th birthday, but sadly was not well enough.
She loves company and regularly joins in singing with other residents at the home in Money Bank.
A spokesman for the home said: “Since Doris has lived with us at Glennfield she is always happy and smiling. She loves company and a good chat with anyone who calls to say hello to her.
“Only last week we had our ‘Banjo Man’ come to visit and she enjoyed singing ‘Daisy Daisy’ with him with a big smile on her face.” MLNF-19IB2076
