Hear the moment 999 call was made after discovery of Una Crown’s body at Wisbech home
The harrowing moment a carer made a 999 call to the emergency services after discovering the body of Una Crown has been shared.
Police have released part of the call after Una Crown’s killer David Newton was found guilty of murdering her yesterday.
Mrs Crown was discovered by her nephew and a carer of Una’s next-door neighbour on Magazine Lane in Wisbech.
A 999 call was made by the carer, during which she can be heard discovering that several fires had been ignited in Mrs Crown’s home.
Fire officers later discovered that three seats of fire had been started by an outside source. These were set in Mrs Crown’s hallway and kitchen as well as her body which had been set alight.
Police who first arrived at the scene believed that Mrs Crown’s death was non-suspicious and treated it as accidental.
Yesterday, the jury came to a 10-2 verdict at Cambridge Crown Court that Newton was guilty of murder.
Cambridgeshire Police has since apologised for their actions in January 2013, which meant Mrs Crown’s death was not treated as murder until a post-mortem took place three days later.
