Iceni and Roman open day at Stonea
Plans to create a heritage centre to celebrate the history of an Iceni and Roman settlement have moved a step closer.
Heritage, Culture and Community Stonea are hoping to learn more about the rich history of Stonea Camp.
Stonea Camp, near March, is the lowest lying Ironage Hill Fort, an Iceni spiritual and feasting site and a Roman town.
HCC Stonea has now received £5,000 from the Care Network to create a temporary heritage centre, which is hoped to pave the way for a larger site.
The group has also received funding to put on an open day on Sunday.
Visitors will be able to learn more about what life was like for the Iceni tribe under the Romans thanks to re-enactors.Storytelling and bushcrafting are also part of the event, which runs from 10am-4pm
