High Sheriff Dr Bharatkumar Khetani visited Wisbech and March Libraries to spread the word of the excellent work each venue does

A high sheriff paid a visit to two town venues to highlight the hard work they do.

High Sheriff Dr Bharatkumar Khetani made a visit to both Wisbech and March Libraries.

The purpose of these visits was to spread the word of the excellent work each library does, made possible by hardworking staff and volunteers, some of whom can be seen pictured.

Also present on these visits were Councillors Peter Human and Kim French, respective Mayors of Wisbech and March.

They were included in the tours and conversations, and were similarly impressed by the services’ recent work.

Wisbech Library staff explained some of the work they do.

Of particular interest were the children’s events, such as First Steps Craft Clubs every Wednesday afternoon and Rhymetime every Friday morning.

Both the Mayor and High Sheriff were also intrigued by events for adults, including monthly Engage talks (the most recent of which saw 50 attendees) and tea and tablets sessions, where staff provide assistance to beginners with smart devices.

March Library staff shared their own events, including the Crafty Cafe on Tuesday mornings.

Progress on the EverySpace Project was outlined, seeing the library being given a modern, adaptable installation fitted with high-quality digital content creation equipment, available for use by local groups, businesses, and individuals trying to upskill.

Of particular interest was the Know Your Neighbourhood Project, an externally-funded pursuit aiming to combat loneliness in March and Chatteris.

The High Sheriff was highly impressed with work on the Every Child a Member Project, the first year of which has seen strides in a fast-track membership model for sixteen primary schools in and around Wisbech and a programme of activities for children.

Library staff were delighted to welcome High Sheriff Dr Khetani and wish him well in his future endeavours.
