Pool and darts competition sees Bakkavor Meals in Sutton Bridge raise more than £650 for Macmillan Cancer Support
After a hard day’s work, staff at a food manufacturing company were able to let loose with a fun charity competition.
More than £650 was raised for Macmillan by Bakkavor Meals in Sutton Bridge through pool and darts.
Hosted at The Anchor on Bridge Road, dozens turned up, including those from the community, to show their support.
Technical manager Clare Barratt said Bakkavor is a “people business” which supports projects in the area throughout the year.
“After a hard day’s work, I am delighted that so many of our local colleagues gave up their free time to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support,” she said.
“Everyone had a lot of fun during the pool and darts competitions.
“We may not have uncovered the next world champion, but the team’s collective effort to help raise £654 to support the charity’s vital work in the community is something we’re all proud to be associated with.”
The colleagues chose Macmillan as their charity of the year, making it the focus of their fundraisers and volunteering initiatives.
Jamie Scott-Hook, landlord at The Anchor pub, said he was “delighted” to host the event.
“Bakkavor were a pleasure to work with, the turnout from Sutton Bridge colleagues was so impressive, and it was a special evening when everyone came together to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support,” he said.
