LEARN MOREThe winners have been chosen in our inaugural Fenland Citizen Pet of the Year competition.
After all entries were published in the paper last month, you’ve been voting in your droves.
The competition was sponsored by Triovet Veterinary Practice of Chatteris, with prizes donated by Pets At Home.
And at a presentation at the Park Street vets, the category winners and overall winners received their prizes.
Winner of Best Dog/Puppy and also Cutest Pet was Sid, owned by Mervyn Fryett, of Murrow.
Best Cat/Kitten was Sassy, owned by Paul and Paula Talbot of Murrow.
And Best Other Animal was Daisy the donkey, owned by Liz Wright, of Wimblington.
Runners-up were: best dog – Pucci, owned by Alan Wheeldon, of Wisbech; best cat – Bengie, owned by Julie Smart, of King’s Lynn; other animal – Benji the rabbit, owned by Taeko Mugford, of Chatteris; cutest – Phoebe the dog owned by Jayne Webb, of Wisbech.
Staff at Triovet then had the task of choosing the overall winner and plumped for Sid, making it three wins for him!
Editor Jeremy Ransome said: “It was a successful, fun competition and something we’ll definitely repeat next year.
“Pets are an important part of the lives of many of us and it was lovely to celebrate them. Thanks so much to Triovet and Pets At Home for supporting the competition and to everyone who got involved.”
