It’s village carnival time in Doddington this weekend
A village is holding its annual sports day and carnival on Saturday and it promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Doddington will see some road closures between 8.30am and 12.30pm through the centre of the village to allow for the parade, which last year was stationary.
There promises to be an array of floats in the procession which starts at 10.30am after the judging of the fancy dress competition and of the floats.
The parade will start from Church Lane, and head down New Street, Newgate Street, Primrose Hill, and back up through Primrose Hill, Newgate Street, New Street, High Street, Manor Estate then on the High Street and returning to Church Lane.
The afternoon of sports fun starts at around 2pm on the playing field with the gates opening at 1.30pm, entry is £1 per adult, with free admission for all children. There will also be a host of activities as well as a barbecue, tea, and cakes.
Road closures will be from 9.30am to 12.30pm: Primrose Hill, Newgate Street, New Street, High Street, Wimblington Road, and Benwick Road as well as Childs Lane and Ingles Lane.
From 8.30am to 1pm both Ingles Lane and Church Lane will be closed.
Diversions will be in place throughout.
