Jail for drink driver caught two days after losing his licence

A drink driver has been convicted for the second time, just two days after losing his licence for a similar offence.

Raimond Glauda, 24, of Norwich Road, Wisbech, was arrested at about 6.20am on Monday, November 23, in Wisbech after the Nissan X-Trail he was driving veered off the road onto a grass verge, colliding with a white Rover 25.

He was found to be more than three times the limit after giving a breath test of 110 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath; the legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Glauda was later charged, along with driving without insurance and driving while disqualified.

He appeared at Kings Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (November 26) after pleading guilty to the charges and was given a three-year driving ban.

The court also seized his Nissan X-Trail and ordered him to pay a £260 fine as well as spend Christmas behind bars while he serves a six-week prison sentence.

PC Matt Smart said: “It is completely unacceptable to get behind the wheel of a car when you have been drinking as it can often have devastating consequences. Thankfully no one was injured, but unfortunately Glauda hadn’t learnt his lesson after losing his licence just two days before his latest arrest.

“Hopefully his time in prison will give him chance to reflect on his actions and reconsider his decision making in future.”
